About the Author
Ann Ehrlich is an experienced teacher, professional author, and lifelong student. Considered one of the leading experts in the field of medical terminology since 1988, she has written numerous books on such health topics as dental assisting, practice management, speech therapy and lymphedema.

Carol L. Schroeder has been working for more than 15 years to find innovative ways to present medical terminology at a level appropriate for this text's students. Her background in technical writing, translating, and research is invaluable in continuously updating the content and in creating innovative activities and approaches--such as the Simplified Syllabus and Human Touch stories--to enable instructors to present engaging courses that help all students succeed.

Laura Ehrlich, a Registered Nurse in the emergency department at Kaiser's South San Francisco Medical Center, enjoys the fast-paced, challenging environment of the emergency department as well as the knowledge that her skills save lives. She excels at explaining medical terminology to patients and training other nurses on new procedures and technology. Previously, she helped develop and present employee training for the Nursing Education Council at San Leandro Hospital.

Katrina A. Schroeder is a Registered Dietitian who trained and works at Boston Children's Hospital, a Harvard Teaching Hospital. After finishing her dietetic internship at Simmons College, she completed the prestigious LEAH (Leadership Education in Adolescent Health) Fellowship in the adolescent department at Boston Children's Hospital. Currently she is a clinical dietitian in the adolescent clinic there, specializing in the nutritional care of teenagers with eating disorders, obesity, and polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). Katrina also writes guides and blogs for the Center for Young Women's Health and runs a small private practice in Brookline, Mass.

nice but not for beginners

This book has several samples of lettering by different artists. They even give you a step-by-step guide to try your hand at some of them. However I found the techniques not that "beginner" friendly. Step one sketch out your intended silhouette and lettering. (If I knew how to sketch out the lettering, I would not need a book on lettering.) Step three add soft shading using a paper stump. (paper stump?) Step five practice lettering on a piece of rough rag marker paper with a dip pen and black waterproof ink. (not really staples in my kid's craft kit). The book has beautiful samples by fantastic artists, no doubt. I was just hoping for something a little more simple to get my "not-a-natural-artist" tween a step further in her desire to make word art.

A Must Have For Any Lettering Fan!

This book was just placed in my hands and I am really pleased with this well done book! I'm kind of a calligraphy junkie, although truth be told, I have not put in enough time to call myself good at making letters beautiful myself, but I love the 'trying'!

"Creative Lettering" takes you through the basics of course; paper, pens, inks, paints & types of letters, but it goes far beyond the basics with sections written and designed (with accompanying projects and exercises) by some of the biggest names in lettering and calligraphy design today. Featured calligraphers include Andy Ainger, Francois Begnez, Flora Chang, Barbara Close ,Philippe Debongnie, Karyn Denten ,Aimee Dolich, Lisa Engelbrecht , Pam Garrison ,Stine Kaasa, Rhianna Lederman, Martha Lever, Linda Schneider, Jessica Swift ,Madeline Tomkins & Lori Vilegen.

I know that this book will become one of my "go to" books for calligraphic inspiration! It will live on the small bookcase that sits right on my design table, ready to pull out for a creative boost anytime that I feel the need!

If you are a lettering addled fan or an artist that just needs some added motivation -grab this book now ! It's a bargain!

Offers Lots of Creative Stimulation

It's been said that imitation is the highest form of flattery, it is also a great way to find inspiration. That's why Jenny Doh's new book is so great. For anyone interested in creative lettering, Ms. Doh's new book offers a lot of different and fun styles to learn from, riff off, and yes even imitate (or at least incorporate into your own style after imitating theirs). I didn't love every one of the artists featured in the book, but I loved or admired enough of them to make this book very worthwhile. Some of my favorites: Jessica Swift, Rhianna Wurman, and Madeline Tompins.

Whether you're a new or seasoned illustrator who hasn't done much lettering, you'll helpful information and plenty of examples to stimulate your visual thinking. The first part of the book discusses the language of typography (such as, cap line and baseline). It also takes you through materials and supplies lists for doing the type of lettering projects in the book.

I recently received a copy of Sacred Calligraphy of the East for review and would also highly recommend that to anyone interested in Creative Lettering.

Mathematical Foundations of Fluid Mechanics

The title and many of the Amazon reviews of this book are misleading in my opinion. This book should have been titled `The Mathematical Foundation of Fluid Mechanics'. This book describes, in gory detail, the fundamental mathematics of viscous fluid flow. The text is, obviously, heavy on vector and tensor calculus. The first few chapters review the basic theorems of vector and tensor calcular relevent to fluid dynamics. The basic equations of fluid dynamics are then derived, and the analysis is extended to viscous flow. Finally, Aris discusses coordinate transformation and tensor analysis (that is really more of a lead-in to GR than fluid dynamics, although it is interesting to see how this all ties together!). This is NOT a `complete' text in hydrodynamics. There is no discussion of turbulence, supersonic flow, instabilities, etc. This is a text on the mathematical (and geometrical) foundations of hydrodynamics. As such, I view this as an advanced text for a researcher who wants to understand hydrodynamics at it's most complete, fundamental mathematical level. If you are searching for any other type of hydrodynamics text, just move on. The reason that I only gave this book four stars was because I feel that hydrodynamics is a much richer discipline than what is contained within this book. Some of the most enthusiastic reviews greatly overstate the value of working through this book. You will learn quite a bit by going through this book, and it is a great text IF you want to study the foundations of hydrodynamics in great detail, but you will need (alot) more if you want to begin to appreciate fluid mechanics.

Not for the weakhearted!

This is one of those pithy classics that one needs to tread through very very carefully. The book is an uphill task, wherein rests its utility and fun. Fluid Mechanics in its simplified diluted version is served in many OTHER textbooks. This one serves it in its raw mathematical glory, and as the author says in the preface of the book, any serious engineer and fluid mechanician must realize that math must be befriended and mastered. The author makes very terse, and powerful introduction to the field. I would recommend a physicist to supplement it with a text by Faber, for Chemical Engineer to study it after the famous BSL (Transport Phenomenon), for a mathematician to pick it on any day, and for everyone in general to approach it with determination required to climb a rocky terrain. (Ah! I guess I would write an even better review if and when I finish reading it:)

Very complete introduction to tensor analysis in 3 dimensions.

This would make a good introduction to tensors for physics students (e.g. for General Relativity), though the approach is a completely classical, using index notation; you won't find anything on manifolds or differential forms here. Lipstick Dom

Every time I read a T Styles book, I have to remind myself not to be prejudiced towards the book and not love the book because I love her books. With Lipstick Dom, I felt so many different emotions.

As a mother, I honestly don't know how I would react if my child was living such a tortured and conflicted life as Echo did. No spoilers but to have to grow into your own at such a young age and to have so many people against you had to be hard as hell.

Having read the original book Rainbow Heart, I can definitely say I saw the growth and maturity from Miss Styles' pen. While I enjoyed the original, the remastered version blew me completely away. It was absolutely amazing. The characters complemented each other. Tons of jealousy and drama. A few honorable mentions of other characters. One can't go wrong picking up this story!!

But she soon finds out that Echo is anything but (a punk) when she is pushed to the limit.. Once shy and soft-spoken.. She springs to life with a fu.. The world attitude... This book was definitely a page-turner..

T.Styles has done it again! This book was everything . Echo was by far one if the best characters she has ever written about. I could go on and on about this book but if you have ever read a T.styles book then you already know to expect something great. If you haven't check out her work then by all means what are you waiting for !!!!!

Medieval Romance At It's Best

Amber Dane breathes new life into the medieval romance novel. Her characters stay true to who they are, even as they grow. The scenery is descript, but doesn't bog down the chapters. And one particular villain involved is quite "peculiar".
